Alice Harris, an artist in her own right, has produced a catalogue of alluring art books exploring fashion through the ages, music that moves your soul, and demonstrates what it means to be submerged in a creative hub of artistic legends.

“My inspiration from art and music are very, very important,” Harris says of her work. “I worked with Donna Summer, one of the greatest artists on the planet, at Casablanca records. I’ve worked with so many wonderful artists and musicians that kept inspiring me all along. I’m very grateful.”

Harris’ first book, The White T, published in 1996 with an introduction by Giorgio Armani, is a celebration of this universally worn piece of clothing that began as workwear and turned into an iconic staple in everyone’s closets.
“The photography is amazing in the first book,” Harris says fondly. “It’s about where and how the t-shirt originated, why it’s a basic and how we are wearing it. From sports to celebrity to rock ‘n roll, the t-shirt is just one of those things.”
Her next books to follow: The Blue Jean, The Wedding Album, Blow Me a Kiss, and I Only Have Eyes For You, all incredible depictions of style, sex and status throughout history.
Harris' latest book, What the Band Wore, highlights her two great passions: music and fashion, spanning four decades from the 1960s to the 1990s.
Through a collection of rare photographs illustrating the unforgettable periods of pop, rock, soul, disco, funk and more, commentary from legendary artists spans the gorgeously crafted pages, giving fashion addicts and music lovers inspiration for a lifetime.
The style muse has two other books underway, which will be released sometime in 2026. Perhaps she will give homage to modern pop culture icons in her anticipated projects? Only time will tell.
