The “Color Me Beautiful” concept, popularized in the 1970s and 1980s by former color consultant Carole Jackson, is seeing a major resurgence thanks to the likes of TikTok darlings and favorable direction the fashion industry has headed the last few seasons. From bright, bold shades of hot pinks, Kelly greens and butter yellows, to statement prints of irregular stripes, decorative polka dots and abstract florals, color is back. And according to the international color analyst Sissa Germann, it’s here to stay.
Recognized globally as a leading expert in color analysis, image and style consultant Germann has utilized her love and passion for color as a force for good. Through years of dedication to her art, gathering influences from her time in Vienna, London and Miami, Germann has developed a distinctive approach to color analysis that is unmatched to others in the industry. She is leading the charge on educating people on the importance that color holds, taking into account one’s personality, lifestyle and potential.
Originally from Novo Hamburgo, a small city in southern Brazil known for its thriving shoe industry, Germann’s love of color was shaped by the country’s vibrant fashion, cuisine, and music.
“Fashion has been ‘lunch talk’ all my life,” Germann says of her stylish upbringing. “I had a lot of contact with art and music and opera, always going to museums. That changed the way I see style and design.”
Germann began her fashion career designing handbags after studying at the London College of Fashion, later launching a successful children’s line she ran for five years. Fashion runs in her blood—her father was a footwear pioneer and one of Brazil’s top shoe agents, connecting brands with factories, while her mother, a designer, launched the family’s colorful, handcrafted shoe brand, Morenatom.
But Germann’s true passion—exploring the depths and nuances that certain colors are able to bring out of a person—became too vivid to ignore. In 2019, she founded her current business, Drops de Cor.
“I was a very insecure young adult,” Germann confides. “After I underwent a big life transformation, I decided to help people become more beautiful and confident. It was very surprising to me that color could be this gateway to a career; how we can change hair color, makeup color, and have a better mood through these fantastic colors that match the client’s color palette. It’s amazing.”
Through her courses, Germann developed an innovative approach to personal coloring, combining traditional techniques with a contemporary vision, unfolding a holistic and empathetic approach to color analysis. Working intimately one-on-one with each client, she peels back the layers of what makes each person unique, unveiling their chromatic harmony by way of color palettes, draping and finding your soul colors.
“Color analysis is not like a recipe book,” Germann insists. “You don’t just follow a list of instructions and witness a transformation. It is an immersive experience.”
And an experience is precisely what Germann offers through the school she opened in her home country a few years ago. “You come in and immediately feel the mood,” Germann says of her space. “There’s Brazilian coffee brewing, the room is really colorful and inviting. When clients are here, they’re getting special treatment with my full attention and energy on them.”
Germann believes there are very few expert color consultants in the world. Beyond one’s actual acuity for color, there needs to be a keen sense of design and harmony—and of course, the ability to make clients feel open and at ease.
“Fashion is too neutral in the United States,” Germann says flatly. “I think if we start to really work with this concept that colors have the potential to not only make you look better, but feel better, it may change the way brands operate.”
At the most basic level, the color analysis process involves finding a person’s correct color palette, unveiling the chromatic harmony while taking into account their individuality, personality and lifestyle.
There’s a distinctive flair to the Drops de Cor brand that sets Germann apart from other color consultants—an intuitive aspect rooted in her own personal journey.
“Until I was 35, I was living a completely different life,” Germann shares. “But after I remarried, everything changed. I started to live a bright, spring life. I started to shine. When a woman finds that kind of confidence, she can do anything. But that confidence only comes from within—by asking yourself what truly makes you happy, what moves you. And once you discover that, everything around you begins to change. That’s the real power of color.”
Her sessions begin with a set of tarot-style cards, each representing one of eight colors. She invites clients to choose the hues that catch their eye, then uses those choices to ask deeper questions—gently uncovering their inner truths. It's a process that, speaking from experience, can feel disarmingly raw and revealing.
“Once we identify a client's palette,” she explains, “I connect their soul colors with their style colors—not just for clothing, but for their homes as well. I tell them to sprinkle these shades into their daily lives. They act like drops of energy, supporting them throughout the day. It’s a very personal process. And when clients leave, they often say, ‘Wow, this really changed my life.’ This isn’t something I learned in a course. This is something life taught me.”
Germann’s contagious energy, vibrant wardrobe, and warm, intuitive presence make her a standout in the world of color consulting. The emerald green in her eyes seems to glow even brighter against the colors she wears—each thoughtfully chosen to reflect and express her own spirit.
“Color can help people in so many ways,” she says. “It’s so much more than what you wear. My goal is to empower people who feel lost or disconnected—helping them rediscover their purpose through color. And through my courses, I teach them how to help others do the same.”
